Frances Marie Tweedell, age 94, of Carthage, Illinois, passed away peacefully at her home at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, January 25, 2026. Her life was one of dedication, warmth, and steadfast devotion to family, faith, and community, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Frances was born on May 8, 1931, in Monroe City, Missouri, to Edward B. and Leta (Engle) Ford. She was a proud graduate of Holy Rosary High School, where she was one of only thirteen students in her class. On May 16, 1956, she married William Matthew Tweedell at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Carthage. Together they had five children, who became the center of her life. Though their marriage later ended, her love and dedication to her children never wavered.

Frances devoted over 40 years to her work as a bank teller, beginning at Farmers State Bank in Ferris and later serving at First Bankers Trust in Carthage. She was a valued member of the Immaculate Conception Church and the Eagles Club Woman’s Auxiliary, contributing to her community through both service and friendship.

A woman of many passions, Frances loved to bowl and golf, and she was a devoted fan of the Chicago Cubs. She could often be found enjoying solitaire for hours or tending to her beloved cats, who were a constant source of joy in her life. Frances’ warm and spirited personality left an impression on friends and family alike, and her quiet strength was admired by all who knew her.

Frances is survived by her children Jan (Brian) Bailey of Macomb, Illinois; Dirk (Lynn) Tweedell of Carthage; Jill Connet of Carthage; Mike Tweedell of Carthage; and Mitch (Amy Hurt) Tweedell of Carthage. She also leaves behind cherished grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and seven siblings: Mary Ford, Bill Ford, Teresa Maddex, Robert Ford, Velma Ford, Margaret Mason, and James Ford.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage, with burial to follow at Moss Ridge Cemetery, Calvary section. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials may be made to the Carthage Clipper Fire Department or Blessing Hospice.

Frances Marie Tweedell will be remembered for her kindness, resilience, and the deep love she shared with her family and community. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her, serving as a lasting reminder of a life well-lived.
